Liverpool have slipped behind Fiorentina in the chase for AS Roma star Juan Iturbe, according to reports.
The Reds have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old in recent months, however, Corriere dello Sport claims Fiorentina have made a £10m opening bid for the attacker.
Iturbe was dubbed the ‘next Lionel Messi’ by Argentine media after bursting onto the scene with Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno in his home country back in 2008.
The 22-year-old has had stints with FC Porto and Hellas Verona before joining AS Roma in the summer of 2014 in a €22m deal.
Iturbe featured in 37 league matches for the Serie A giants last season and scored four goals to help the Stadio Olimpico-based club to a second-placed finish.
The youngster would no doubt be a solid addition to Brendan Rodgers’ side, however, it seems Iturbe could head to Fiorentina should the Reds not make a quick move for the player.
