Reds make their second summer signing.
Liverpool FC have announced that they have “agreed a deal in principle” to sign Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Emre Can.
The 20-year-old looks set to become the second player to join the Reds this summer, after England striker Rickie Lambert arrived from Southampton earlier this week.
Can is a versatile player, who can play at centre-half, left-back, on the wing and in central midfield.
He featured in 29 Bundesliga games this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
Can made 75 tackles, 46 interceptions and 42 clearances.
He completed 73 dribbles, 16 key passes and won 36 free-kicks.
Can has represented Germany at five different youth levels, including winning six Under-21 caps.
He is also eligible to play for Turkey, but he looks set to commit his international future to Germany – the country of his birth.
His move to Anfield is subject to the ‘completion of documentation’ and is expected to be finalised on July 1.
