Several Serie A clubs have been linked with a move for the Italian international this summer in order to bring an end to his disappointing second stint in England, but it appears as though Ferrero is ready to offer him a legitimate way out of the Premier League.
The Blucerchiati are reportedly considering bringing back Antonio Cassano too, giving the attacking duo the opportunity to play alongside each other again after their successful spell together for the Azzurri.
“Balotelli is an excellent player,” Ferrero told reporters, as reported by Football Italia.
“At Sampdoria he would have a great opportunity to relaunch his career in a club where he’d have less pressure.”
Balotelli has struggled since joining Liverpool last summer, and with Brendan Rodgers set to bring in Christian Benteke, it is likely that the former Milan ace will continue to fall down the pecking order.
The Reds are understood to be set to pay the Belgian’s £32.5m release clause which in turn will see him spearhead their attack next season.
