Liverpool have handed contract extension to defensive duo Kolo Toure and Andre Wisdom despite there relative lack of game time this season, according to Liverpoolfc.com.
Kolo Toure’s contract actually expired at the end of this season and the centre-back had received a number of offers from several European clubs to make a switch – but has signed on for one more year on Merseyside.
Wisdom spent the entire season on-laon at West Bromwich Albion and now will remain at Anfield until at least 2019.
And the fact he has now been handed such a lengthy extension proves how, in Brendan Rodgers’ view at least, he does have some kind of future at Anfield, though it’s clear what this will be.
Indeed, Wisdom did find game time under former Baggies boss Alan Irvine but sine Tony Pulis’s reign took hold, he made just two substitute appearances since the end of January.
Toure might have a reputation as being past it but his experience has proved vital this season in a particular poor campaign for Liverpool at the back with the Ivorian stepping in when some of the younger heads in the squad, Dejan Lovren for instance, were feeling the pressure.
