Well it looks like we can cross Pedro off the list of possible LVG “surprise strikers.” Will Pedro replace Raheem Sterling?
Liverpool have taken the edge in the race for Barcelona’s Pedro, beginning transfer talks and upending Man United’s bid for the La Liga star.
According to the Metro, Liverpool are in talks with Pedro ahead of the Spanish striker’s much-anticipated transfer move to Old Trafford. With so many people speaking with confidence that a move for Pedro to Man United is imminent, such a move could certainly result in an 11th-hour change of heart as we’ve seen several times in the Premier League this summer.
The 27-year-old Pedro Ledesma, or “Pedro” for short, is seen as a direct replacement for the departed Sterling, who also played as both a forward and a winger to great effect during his time in Anfield. The buy-out clause in Pedro’s contract is estimated at £21 million.
Pedro has played his entire senior career for Barcelona, winning five La Liga titles, three Champions League titles, three Copa del Ray titles and four Supercopa de Espana titles since his debut in the 2007-08 season. Pedro has recorded double-digit total goals in each of his last six seasons and owns 16 career goals representing Spain’s international team.
