The Reds are thought to be in the market for a new goalkeeper after manager Brendan Rodgers lost faith in both Simon Mignolet and Brad Jones.
When asked whether Mignolet was no longer Liverpool’s first-choice keeper, Rodgers said: “Yes. I said to Simon it was for an indefinite period.
“It is something that can happen to keepers, taking them out of the firing line to give them time to reflect.”
The Belgium international paid the price for his poor form on Sunday when he started on the bench for Liverpool’s 3-0 defeat at Manchester United, and again in the 3-1 League Cup win over Bournemouth.
Ochoa had been linked with a move to the Premier League over the summer, but he opted to link up with Spanish side Malaga instead.
However, the Reds are hoping to snap the 29-year-old up in the new year with a £3m bid.
