Reports in the Daily Mirror have revealed that the Reds are chasing 17-year-old Tielemans, who was watched by scouts from the Anfield club earlier in the week.
Tielemans, who is still just 17, became the youngest Belgian player to play in the Champions League when he made his bow in European football’s elite competition in October last year.
The source adds that Liverpool are in the hunt for a defensive midfielder and Tielemans’ emergence has caused a stir across Europe. Borussia Dortmund are already believed to have had a bid in excess of £4.5million turned down for the starlet, who is also on Bayern Munich’s radar.
Meanwhile, the Daily Express has suggested that Brendan Rodgers’ side are prepared to offer £15.5m to land Arsenal and Manchester United target Tiote, who has been with Newcastle since 2010.
Reports claim that the Ivory Coast international is desperate to leave St James’ Park after the club’s shocking start to the season. Although the player has publicly reaffirmed his commitment to Alan Pardew’s side, he is still seeking an exit and will push for a move in the next transfer window.
Liverpool on the lookout for new recruits, having grown concerned with the form of captain Steven Gerrard, who has struggled to live up to his own high standards, while fellow midfielder Emre Can has missed almost the entire campaign through injury.
