The Reds are preparing a £12m bid for Mohamed Salah…
Liverpool are favourites to sign FC Basel’s Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah when the January transfer window opens, reports the Daily Mail.
The 21-year-old, who has shot to prominence by scoring three goals against Chelsea and Tottenham in 2013 in various European competitions, could well be Brendan Rodger’s marquee winter window signing.
The Northern Irish boss sent scouts to watch the flyer in the Champions League midweek, and although Salah had a quiet game against Schalke, Rodgers is still keen on brining him to Anfield.
To do so, he will have to fight off competition from Tottenham, who have been linked with him on regular occasions.
Salah would add genuine pace and skill in the wide areas, but also would take the goal burden off Luis Suarez and the currently injured Daniel Sturridge. Salah has bagged an extremely impressive 17 goals in 26 international appearances, ans has also weighed in with six in all competitions this term.
Liverpool are badly short in the final third, and Salah could well aid Liverpool’s push for the top four if he arrives in January. A fee of £15m should be enough to secure his services, and would enable Liverpool to play Rodgers’ favoured 4-3-3 formation far easier, as Salah is happy to play from the right and cut in on his left foot.
