Seven Liverpool players could feature this evening for their international sides…
Steven Gerrard, Raheem Sterling
Ukraine v England
The England and Liverpool skipper faces a huge task in leading his country to a positive result away to the Ukraine in Kiev tonight. Gerrard has arguably been England’s most consistently strong performer ever since he was given the armband – and his side will need him to sit deep and protect the back four. Sterling will unlikely be tested in a game of this magnitude, while Daniel Sturridge and Glen Johnson, who would both likely start the game, have been ruled out with injuries.
Daniel Agger
Armenia v Denmark
Liverpool’s vice-captain Daniel Agger will need to be at his best if the Danes have any chance of qualifying from Group B. The tattooed stopper marshals the Danish defence, and he will be entrusted in doing so tonight as his county takes on Armenia, knowing anything other than a win will make qualification all but impossible.
Luis Suarez
Uruguay v Colombia
Liverpool will be delighted their brilliant forward is keeping match fit with important international fixtures while he sits out the remaining two games of his ten match suspension. Suarez’s fifth placed Uruguayan side face a crucial match against second placed Colombia in order to push themselves into the top four automatic qualifying spots. With only three games remaining, if they finish in fifth, they face a tough play-off game against an Oceanic side.
