With a winger sale apparently going on in the Premier League, Liverpool are looking to add one too.
Chelsea and Manchester United aren’t the only clubs chasing elite wingers – Liverpool have their eye on one of Bundesliga’s best with a bid for Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the works.
According to Squawka, Liverpool have joined Serie A champions Juventus in the bidding war for the 26-year-old Borussia Dortmund star, and are preparing a bid of €21 million for his signature. Liverpool had previously shown interest in Henrikh Mkhitaryan six months ago but nothing materialized.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan signed with Dortmund on a £23.6 million deal in July 2013 after a stellar career with Shaktar Donetsk that included a 25 goal season the year before. Since joining Dortmund, Mkhitaryan has 14 goals in 60 league appearances.
Liverpool’s liberal spending this past summer has paid immediate dividends for the Anfield outfit with £32.5 million-man Christian Benteke scoring a game-winning goal against Bournemouth to start the season off with two straight wins and six points on the table.
