Reds could land the central defender on the cheap in the close season.
Liverpool are closely monitoring the situation of highly rated Paris Saint-Germain defender Mamadou Sakho after it emerged that the player has still to agree a new contract with the Ligue 1 champions, reports the Daily Express.
The France international has been at the Parc des Princes for his entire career to date, making his debut for the French giants in the 2006-07 season.
And in the intervening seven-year period, the 23-year-old has appeared in 196 matches in all competitions for the Parisians, registering seven goals and one assist in the process.
However, with a deal in the French capital that runs only until the summer of 2014 and the centre back still to have agreed to sign the new two-year contract that PSG have put in front of him after being the victim of a rotation policy by previous head coach Carlo Ancelotti last season, there still remain doubts about Sakho’s future at the club, with the Reds hoping to swoop if the player and his employers opt to go their separate ways this summer.
