When Roy Hodgson named his England squad for Brazil 2014, all the talk was about the exciting young talent – the likes of Luke Shaw, Ross Barkley and Raheem Sterling.
These players have their whole careers ahead of them and this summer’s World Cup is almost certainly not going to be their last.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Frank Lampard, who, at the age of 34, will probably play his last game for the Three Lions later this month.
Lampard has enjoyed a brilliant career, winning 105 senior England caps, as well as 11 major team titles with Chelsea, breaking the club’s all-time goalscoring record in the process.
