The sporting world was impressed with the Northern Irishman’s performance.
World No.1 Rory McIlroy continued his great form by winning the PGA Championship in Valhalla by one shot ahead of Phil Mickelson.
It was the 25-year-old’s fourth major and completes a hat-trick of titles recently alongside the British Open and WGC-Bridgestone.
Only the US Masters now eludes McIlroy to complete the full set of majors and several big names from the footballing world were quick to congratulate the Northern Irishman.
What a champion @McIlroyRory has become. An all-time great in his sport at the age of 25. And a delightful bloke to boot.
