Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes Premier League clubs’ big spending may be hurting them in the Champions League and Europa League, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Reds legend, now a pundit for Sky Sports, feels not enough development is going into players, with English clubs having the luxury to spend their way out of trouble all too often, though their financial strength has not led to an improvement in European competition.
“We should be dominating European football considering the financial aspect of the Premier League,” he said.
“I don’t know if our clubs are getting kidded when they buy players from abroad, because of the players we are bringing in and the prices we are paying.
“Maybe because they have so much money you can bring a player in but, if it doesn’t quite work out you still have the money to bring another in instead of developing players.”
