Victor Moses has arrived at Liverpool on loan from Chelsea to boost the Reds’ attack…
Liverpool’s recently retired centre-half Jamie Carragher reckons new loan signing Victor Moses will prove to be an important addition to the side, reports Liverpool’s official website.
The Reds secure a season long loan deal with the physical Nigerian on the last day of the transfer window, and Moses could be in line for his Liverpool debut when they travel to Swansea at the weekend.
“I think Moses will be an important signing,” said Carragher, who has been replaced at Anfield by the incoming defensive trio Mamadou Sakho, Tiago Ilori and Kolo Toure.
Moses has raw pace and power, and while Liverpool have a selection of smaller, more technically gifted players, the Moses loan could give them another outlet in attack – especially away from home.
The Nigerian can operate as a wide-forward from either flank, and Carragher thinks this will help the Reds break down more stubborn opposition.
“Maybe that bit of pace and power on the counter attack, and strength in the wide areas will add a lot to the side,” added Carragher.
If Moses establishes himself in the side, he will expect to form an attacking trio with Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, with Coutinho playing a withdrawn creative role. Away from home, Brendan Rodgers may choose to include an extra central midfielder, meaning Moses has a lot of work to do to force himself into the Reds’ line-up consistently.
