Liverpool are expected to sell midfielder Lucas Leiva, and the imminent sale is reported to be worth £8m.
The Reds have been urged to rethink their sale of the midfielder by former Anfield hero Jan Molby.
“I really hope he stays because I still think he will have a part to play this season,” Molby said to Liverpool Echo.
“It’s important you have a number 6 who is a proper number 6 and very much a team player – someone whose ambition is for the team rather than himself.”
AC Milan are rumoured to be in the 28-year-old midfielder.
It will be hard to convince manager Brendan Rodgers that Lucas can still be a valuable contributor for the Reds, as the Brazilian international only made 16 Premier League starts last season.
He was also nowhere to be seen during Liverpool’s season-opening 1-0 win against Stoke City, indicating that the Reds boss no longer plans to have him on the team.
