Belgium was one of the most impressive attackers in the Premier League last season.
Liverpool will turn their attentions towards in-form Aston Villa front man Christian Benteke if unsettled striker Luis Suarez forces through a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid this summer, says the Daily Mail.
Speculation has been mounting in recent days that the Reds’ controversial Uruguay international may have played his last game for the Merseyside club after the player himself declared that he wanted to join los Blancos when the transfer window reopens later this summer.
However, as yet the club have still to receive any official bids from Madrid for their star man, who Liverpool’s American owners the Fenway Sports Group reportedly value at upwards of £50 million.
But if as expected Suarez does eventually complete his move to the Spanish capital, then Reds head coach Brendan Rodgers is understood to be keen to bring Villa’s deadly Belgium international to Anfield as his replacement.
Benteke, 22, scored an impressive 23 goals in just 39 matches in all competitions for the struggling Midlands outfit last season, however, with a contract at Villa Park until June 30 2016 the forward will not come cheap.
