The Reds will use Andre Wisdom as a sweetener in the Will Hughes deal…
Liverpool are set to loan Andre Wisdom on loan to Championship side Derby County, which could be part of a deal that secures the permanent transfer of Will Hughes come January, reports the Daily Star.
Wisdom, the 20-year-old England Under-21 captain, has emerged as a first-team squad member under Brendan Rodgers, but is struggling for consistent first-team football with the likes of Glen Johnson, Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling capable of playing the right wing-back position.
Wisdom would more than likely start for Derby, and head back to Anfield next summer an improved player.
Liverpool are very interested in Hughes, and would be happy to loan the midfielder back to the Championship to guarantee him first-team football in the second half of the season.
The Reds sent scout Dave Fallows to check out the youngster earlier in the season during England Under-21s’ demolition of Scotland Under-21s, and he was mightily impressed with what he saw of the elegant midfielder.
Hughes has already racked up over 50 first-team appearances with the Championship club, and has quickly established himself as a regular starter. His first-touch is outstanding, and the teenager can play intricate through-balls almost at will. Hughes fits the attributes that Rodgers likes in a midfielder, as he is capable of playing quick passes in a slick, dynamic footballing side.
With club captain Steven Gerrard 33-years-old, Rodgers could be looking at the Derby wonderkid is a long-term replacement, and will use Wisdom as a tool to finalise the deal.
