Liverpool have joined the race to sign Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah, according to reports.
Salah spent most of last season on loan with Serie A side Fiorentina and has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge after joining the club from FC Basel in 2014.
The 23-year-old has made just 13 Premier League appearances for the Blues and was left out of Chelsea’s touring squad for the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.
Fiorentina were understood to be keen to make Salah’s deal permanent, however, Metro [via Calciomercatoweb] reports the Reds have contacted Chelsea over the availability of the player.
Brendan Rodgers is keen to bolster his squad ahead of the new season and Salah could become the Reds’ seventh major signing of the summer.
James Milner, Danny Ings, Roberto Firmino, Adam Bogdan, Nathaniel Clyne and Joe Gomez have signed at Anfield, while the Reds are believed to be closing in on a deal for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.
Inter Milan are also understood to be interested in Salah, and it would come as no surprise if Chelsea sold the player to Italy rather than to one of its Premier League rivals.
