The 23 year-old has long been rated as one of the most exciting attacking prospects in European football, but he has struggled for regular football since joining Bayern from FC Basel, with Shaqiri struggling to force his way past Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery to nail down a place in the Bundesliga leaders’ first team.
Shaqiri has made just three Bundesliga starts for Bayern this season, reportedly meaning that manager Pep Guardiola would be willing to see him leave in January, with Liverpool now leading the chase.
