Liverpool and Manchester United are in direct competition for the signing of Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado, who is expected to choose one of the two clubs this week, according to CaughtOffside.
The Colombian international, who has impressed greatly in Serie A and at this summer’s World Cup, has held talks with both clubs after they met his team’s asking price of £24m, and is currently mulling over which one to join for next season.
The likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich have also been linked with the 26-year-old for much of this summer, but it now looks as though the player is leaning towards a move to English football with one of two of this country’s biggest sides.
Although Cuadrado is keen to be playing in the Champions League, it is thought that he may be ready to sacrifice European football for the time being after being impressed by United manager Louis van Gaal.
This would be a major blow for Liverpool after they missed out on Loic Remy due to a failed medical, while they also struggled to persuade Alexis Sanchez to choose a move to Anfield over Arsenal earlier this summer.
