Sevilla’s Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic has discussed his future at his La Liga club, refusing to rule out a potential January move to Liverpool or Manchester United.
Both the Premier League giants are reportedly interested in the midfielder, who has enjoyed a fantastic first half of the season in Spain.
The 25-year-old has scored seven goals and assisted six in the league alone, meaning his club will likely demand a very large fee for their captain.
Rakitic has admitted that there is no new news on a potential move away from the club, but has still opened the door to a future move by explaining that he wants to asses his options.
“Now, news does not exist about my future,” Sky Sports reports Rakitic telling SFC.
“I have returned from my holidays and during these dates I did not use the phone. I will attend a meeting with the Sevilla directors and speak with calm.
“After, I will decide the best option for me in all senses.”
Liverpool and Manchester United are keen on midfield reinforcements, with both sides desperate to cement a spot in the top four by the end of the season. Liverpool have Joe Allen injured, meaning Steven Gerrard, Lucas and Jordan Henderson are the only available central midfield options.
Manchester United similarly need to strengthen the centre of the park, and have also been linked with the excellent Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal in recent days.
