Liverpool star set to be subject of surprise bid from West Ham United.
Liverpool star Jonjo Shelvey is a surprise name on West Ham United’s list for reinforcement this summer, according to talkSPORT.
The 21 year-old midfielder still on the fringes of the first team at Anfield and could be open to an opportunity to play a more regular role at Upton Park.
Shelvey made nine Premier League starts for Liverpool this season, but many of those were because of a shortage of options on Merseyside, and he had to play up front on occasion.
He made more appearances from the substitutes bench, and only scored one goal for the side all season, with no assists for his team-mates.
However, there is considerable potential in Shelvey, and given consistent first team football he could well utilise his abilities to the full.
His dynamism, powerful running and shooting ability mark him out as a worthwhile acquisition for a number of clubs, and with West Ham United looking to build on their 10th place finish in this season’s Premier League, perhaps a move back to East London for the former Charlton Athletic star will help him develop to his full ability.
For Liverpool, Shelvey’s sale could free up additional funds to improve the team elsewhere.
