Joe Cole is desperate to end his Liverpool nightmare and is hoping for a move to back to his native London with Tottenham.
The 29-year-old midfielder has struggled to hold down a regular place in Kenny Dalglish’s starting line-up after enduring a difficult debut season with the Reds typified by injuries and a loss of form.
Cole’s situation has been compounded after the summer arrivals of fellow midfielders Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing
The former Chelsea man is eager for a move before the transfer deadline next week and has worked hard on his fitness in pre-season to improve his chances.
He is anxious for regular games but is not keen on dropping into the Championship to play for former club West Ham.
His ideal move would be to White Hart Lane to link up with ex-Hammers’ boss Harry Redknapp.
Spurs chief Redknapp is a long-standing admirer of Cole and could be interested if Luka Modric goes to Chelsea.
QPR would like to land Cole on loan if Liverpool would partly subsidise his wages.
