Reds are adamant that Spaniard will still be on Merseyside next campaign.
Liverpool are insistent that Spanish giants FC Barcelona have yet to make any approach to them about signing coveted keeper Jose Manuel Reina at the end of the season, says the Liverpool Echo.
Reports in Barcelona-based sports newspaper Mundo Deportivo have suggested that the Liga champions-elect want to bring the Spain international back to Camp Nou this summer in order to replace the departing Victor Valdes in goal.
Valdes stunned Catalonia earlier this year by announcing that he would not be renewing his current contract at the club, which expires next summer, and would instead be seeking a new challenge in his career.
And now Barca are desperate to sell Valdes when the transfer window reopens on 1 June rather than risk losing the player for free in 2014, with his compatriot from Anfield their number-one candidate to take over next season.
Reina, 30, played 30 games for Barcelona in a two-year period between 2000 and 2002, before joining Villarreal and then moving to Liverpool eight years ago.
