Reds contacted about the possibility of signing Jermain Defoe.
Liverpool have been contacted about the possibility of signing former England and Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe on loan until the end of the season, report the Telegraph, although MLS outfit Toronto FC are believed to be holding out for a £6 million permanent deal for the unsettled 32 year-old.

Defoe joined Toronto from Tottenham Hotspur for the MLS season that has just drawn to a conclusion, but he has not proven to be a popular figure with his Canadian club and is said to be desperate for them to authorise a temporary return to the Premier League.
Defoe and his representatives believe that Toronto will relent and allow him to leave on loan, whilst Defoe could represent a useful stop gap solution to Brendan Rodgers’ striking issues until the end of the season.
