Liverpool could be set to make a surprise £5m bid for Barcelona right-back Dani Alves, whom the Catalan giants are desperate to sell, according to CaughtOffside.
The 31-year-old has become out of favour at the Nou Camp in recent times, with new manager Luis Enrique believed to be lining up a move for Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado, who could play as a right-wing-back in a 3-5-2 formation next season.
Alves has long been a key player for Barca, but looks like becoming the latest to leave the club in a mass clear-out this summer, and he could join the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez in moving to the Premier League.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers wants more options in the full-back positions, with Alves able to play either right-back or left-back and with current star Glen Johnson going into the final year of his contract at Anfield.
Alves is also likely to have offers from Ligue 1 big-spenders AS Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain, and it remains to be seen if a move to Merseyside would be his first choice option.
