Liverpool have reportedly been put on red alert as former star Xabi Alonso stalls over a new deal with Bayern Munich.
Alonso moved to Bayern Munich from Real Madrid in 2014 and has starred playing as a deep-lying midfielder for the all-conquering Bavarian giants.
The Anfield legend is heading into the final year of his deal with Bayern and it seems he is certainly in no rush to re-sign with the club.
“My contract? We will see what happens. This is not the time to discuss this subject,” Alonso is quoted as saying by Daily Express.
Daily Express has linked the Spanish international with an emotional return to Anfield and there’s no doubt the 33-year-old would add an immeasurable amount of class and experience to a young Liverpool midfield.
Alonso spent five years at the Reds after joining from Real Sociedad in 2004 and won the Champions League, FA Cup and UEFA Super Cup during his stint with the Merseyside club.
