Liverpool target Dries Mertens has revealed he is keen on making a move to the Premier League.
The Belgian ace has linked with a move to the Reds in the summer, and Daily Star reports Brendan Rodgers is a huge admirer of the former PSV Eindhoven man and is keen to sign the pacy winger.
Liverpool’s chances of landing the 28-year-old have been boosted after he admitted he is interested in playing his trade in the English top flight.
However, it seems the Reds will face a challenge to land Mertens with Napoli keen to lock the player down to a new deal.
“The Premier League would be a good challenge,” Mertens Het Laatste Nieuws, as reported by Daily Star.
“I have a contract until 2018, but maybe other options will appear then.
“Last week we talked about the renewal, it’s nice to know that the club is counting on you.”
Liverpool currently sit 10th on the Premier League table after five matches and face Norwich City at Anfield on Sunday.
