Liverpool has seriously chased after the 24-year-old defender for a long time, and he is reportedly close to signing a £12.5m deal with the Reds.
Clyne is expected to receive a five-year deal if his transfer to Liverpool officially becomes a done deal.
Liverpool has already been aggressive in their transfer pursuits, as Clyne would mark their sixth player signed since the end of the 2014-15 season.
These players include Hoffenheim striker Roberto Firmino, Manchester City midfielder James Milner, Burnley striker Danny Ings and Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher expressed his approval of his team’s aggressive transfer performance.
“I think it’s another good signing for the club to go along with the other business already done,” Carragher said to World Soccer Talk.
Clyne would be the ideal final puzzle piece for a team that suffered an embarrassing loss to Stoke City as they allowed six goals in a train wreck of a defensive performance.
