Liverpool are said to be in surprise talks to sign Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao on loan next season when he rejoins parent club AS Monaco, according to the Metro.
The Colombian international has had a hugely disappointing season in the Premier League, scoring only four goals for the Red Devils since his eagerly-anticipated move to Old Trafford on deadline day.
Still, Falcao has previously been regarded as one of the best strikers in world football, for his performances at previous clubs Atletico Madrid and Porto, and he could be offered a second chance in England by Liverpool.
The Reds have had problems upfront this season due to a number of injuries to Daniel Sturridge, while signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert have failed to replace the impact of last season’s top scorer and star player Luis Suarez upfront after his summer transfer to Barcelona.
It is rare for players to move between these two rival clubs, but if Falcao is not kept on at United there is no reason Monaco shouldn’t loan the 29-year-old to Liverpool.
