The Reds are trying to land Verona midfielder Jorginho.
Hellas Verona and Italy under-21 midfielder Jorginho is the subject of a £7.7m bid from Liverpool, according to reports on Football Italia.
The 21-year-old was born in Brazil although came through the ranks at the Verona youth academy and decided to represent the Azzurri at international level, earning one cap for the under-21 side to date.
Jorginho broke into the first team at his club two years ago and has since gone onto make 71 first team appearances for the side in Serie B and the Coppa Italia.
Although almost unheard of outside of his native the country, the creative midfielder is making a big name for himself in Italy and the Reds have clearly seen enough potential to place a £7.7m offer.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has been extremely busy in the transfer market so far this summer, already having signed creative La Liga duo Luis Alberto of Sevilla and Celta Vigo’s Iago Aspas.
As well as spending £14.2m on the Spanish duo, Rodgers has also shored up the defence with the acquisition of Kolo Toure on a free transfer from Manchester City and snapping up Sunderland’s Simon Mignolet for a £9.3m fee.
If Jorginho were to make the move to Anfield then the youngster could do worse than look to another South American for inspiration in Coutinho.
The Brazil international is the same age as the Verona starlet and has excelled at Anfield since making an £8.8m switch from Serie A side Inter Milan in January.
