Liverpool maintained their unbeaten start to the Premier League season tonight with a 0-0 draw against fellow title outsiders Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
The Reds dominated the first half – hitting the woodwork twice – and then defended stoutly in the second as the Gunners responded in an entertaining stalemate.
Here, fanatix rates and slates how Brendan Rodgers’ side performed in North London…
GK: Simon Mignolet – 7/10
Certainly not as busy as his opposite number, but made a couple of good saves in the second half including a stunner to claw away a Giroud shot when Arsenal were at peak dominance.
RB: Nathaniel Clyne – 8/10
Neither Monreal or Ozil got any joy going round the outside of the England defender, who is as good in one-on-one situations as anybody in the league and is also a great crosser of the ball going forward.
CB: Martin Skrtel – 8/10
Could not get his customary goal against Arsenal, but ensured that the Gunners did not score themselves with a towering performance. Commanding in the air and also made some crucial blocks.
CB: Dejan Lovren – 7/10
Registering a third successive clean sheet will be a massive confidence boost for the Croatian, who struggled in his debut season at Anfield but seems to be going through somewhat of a renaissance.
LB: Joe Gomez – 8/10
A hugely impressive display on comfortably his biggest test to date. The teenager took up some excellent defensive positions and also welcomed the opportunity to bomb forward when possible, although he was fortunate on a couple of occasions not to be punished when giving the ball away in his own half.
