RWB – Lazar Markovic (Balotelli 59′) – 5
As an attacking player one would have expected more impetus going forward, but Markovic offered next to nothing. Then again it wasn’t all down to him, after an overall stale attacking showing from Liverpool.
CM – Emre Can – 6
Did what was demanded of him but no more. Fans will be disappointed there was no classy touches or passes which have come to be expectated from the slick-haired player.
CM – Jordan Henderson – 6
Attempted to assert himself physically, but was fighting a losing battle against the tough tackling Championship outfit. Similarly to his midfield partner, he never really got into the game.
LWB – Raheem Sterling – 7
Showed a spark which always had the potential to undo the Blackburn defence, but lacked end product and cutting edge which has been an Achilles heel of his game.
