Adam Lallana 7
Had a difficult battle with Branislav Ivanovic for the majority of the game, and found himself collecting a yellow card for a clumsy challenge on the Serbian. He did win the free-kick that led to Gerrard’s goal, and did show some promising signs that he will be a dangerous player if he can stay injury free.
Rickie Lambert 5
Largely ineffectual early on, and should have done better when marking John Terry for the opening goal. But, why he was chosen to pick the skipper up in the first place is a mystery. His days at Anfield look numbered based on this effort.
Raheem Sterling 7
Had Liverpool’s first half-chance when he ran unchallenged to within 25 yards of the Chelsea goal, but, wasn’t able to test Thibaut Courtois, as his effort went well wide. His meandering runs caused the Blues problems for most of the game, evoking memories of the Capital One Cup semi-final.
Subs
Jerome Sinclair 6
Like Lambert, Sinclair struggled to get involved in the game, and had no real chances to speak of.
Jordon Ibe 7
Came on with twenty minutes to go, and made a couple of exciting runs, which unfortunately, came to nothing. Once he has the confidence to back up his potential, he will be a frighteningly good winger.
Lucas Leiva 6
Was brought on in place of Steven Gerrard to provide some fresh legs, and sure up the midfield.
