The Italian international has only scored one goal for the Reds so far since his summer move from AC Milan, and has been slammed for poor effort in games, culminating in mass criticism of his performance against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
The 24-year-old swapped shirts with opponent Pepe at half time before being subbed off, and Owen feels it could be a long way back for him at the club.
Last point on Balotelli. Most worrying thing is his team mates’ body language towards him. Once you lose their respect it’s a big struggle.
