As a bonus, the former Reds boss could then look to bring star striker Gonzalo Higuain with him to Anfield, with the Argentine one of the club’s long-term targets.
Having lost Luis Suarez to Barcelona in the summer, Higuain could be a useful replacement upfront, and it may be that he would be keen to follow Benitez if he leaves Napoli.
Benitez, who also had a spell in charge with Chelsea, was a hit at Liverpool in his first spell in charge and is supposedly open to returning.
