Liverpool are reportedly planning a surprise swoop for former Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo.
Valencia are willing to sell the Spaniard this summer in order to create funds for their own signings, according to the Metro.
The 29-year-old spent last season on loan at the Mestalla from City, and Los Che had an obligation to buy him permanently for £19m.
But, after a return of only five goals in 30 La Liga appearances, Valencia are hopeful of offloading Negredo for a similar fee.
Liverpool are still being linked with strikers despite the arrivals of Christian Benteke, Danny Ings and Divock Origi this summer.
Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette was thought to be next on Brendan Rodgers’s hit-list, but it appears as though the Reds manager has given up on the Frenchman and turned to Negredo instead.
Anfield bosses are said to be lining up a £21.2m bid for the forward, who scored an impressive 23 goals in his only season at City, and is also thought to be on Arsenal’s radar.
