The England international is out of contract at the Etihad at the end of the season, and now looks likely to depart as talks over a new deal have stalled.
Arsenal and Liverpool have both been vying for his signature over recent months, but reports are now claiming that Brendan Rodgers’ men have finally won the race to snap him up.
It is said that Milner is ‘destined’ to make the move to Anfield, despite the fact that Manuel Pellegrini will almost certainly make one last ditch attempt at convincing him to stick around.
Milner has been identified as the ideal midfield partner for Jordan Henderson, as Rodgers looks to plug the gap that will soon be left by Steven Gerrard.
