Reds keen to land Royals centre back when the window reopens.
Liverpool are weighing up a possible swoop to sign young Reading defender Alex Pearce at the end of the season, says the Metro.
The Merseyside giants are already putting together recruitment plans for the next campaign, with new head coach Brendan Rodgers wary of not making the same mistakes in the transfer market that the club committed last summer.
And that means getting their transfer business out of the way early, which is why the Northern Irishman is believed to be so keen to tie up a deal to bring Pearce to Anfield as soon as the transfer window reopens on 1 June.
The Reds will have a vacancy at centre back next season with veteran defender Jamie Carragher finally hanging up his boots this May and with Reading’s Republic of Ireland international set to be available on a free transfer this summer, the 24-year-old could be a smart addition to the Liverpool ranks.
