Merseysiders are desperate for more attacking options up front next season.
Liverpool are eyeing up a cut-price deal to bring Celta de Vigo front man Iago Aspas to Anfield this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
The in-form Spaniard is currently enjoying yet another prolific season in front of goal in La Liga, and this despite the fact that his employers are struggling badly for form at present, sitting rock bottom of the Spanish first division.
Aspas, 25, has hit the back of the net on 11 occasions in just 32 top-flight appearances to date for Celta, while also managing to contribute another five assists along the way to the team’s cause.
And if as now looks likely Celta are relegated from La Liga at the end of this campaign, then Reds head coach Brendan Rodgers is hoping to be able to sign the forward for as little as 7 million euros, the price of the release clause in the player’s current contract with the club, that runs until the summer of 2017.
