Here’s the side we think Brendan Rodgers will select to face Newcastle United on Sunday, with the Reds potentially winning the title as long as Manchester City lose to West Ham.
GK) Simon Mignolet
The Belgian was shellshocked to concede three late on against Crystal Palace, and will be hoping his defence doesn’t have a similarly disastrous last ten minutes tomorrow.
DR) Glen Johnson
The English right-back was punished for pushing forward too much against Palace, but will still be encouraged by Rodgers to spend much of the match in the opposition half on Sunday.
DC) Martin Skrtel
The Slovakian centre-half made the crucial mistake that led to Palace’s dramatic late equaliser, but he’s been Liverpool’s best defender all season – and will start versus the Toon.
DC) Daniel Agger
Mamadou Sakho has not been playing well, and we think Brendan Rodgers will recall club vice-captain Daniel Ager – in what could be his last ever match at Anfield.
DL) Jon Flanagan
Flanagan rarely lets his side down on the left of the defence, and will hope to impress Rodgers once more before the Reds enter the transfer market in the summer.
