The Reds can cut the deficit on fourth place to three points with victory today, meaning a defeat for United against Arsenal on Sunday will at least mathematically take their pursuit of a Champions League place to the final day.
Mamadou Sakho is likely to be available again after returning to training this week, while the likes of Alberto Moreno, Joe Allen and Jordon Ibe will also be clamouring to return to the starting line-up.
Here’s how we think the Reds will line-up:
GK) Simon Mignolet
The Belgian will be looking for clean-sheet number 15 this season, as he edges closer towards the Premier League’s golden glove award.
RB) Emre Can
Joe Allen and Lucas Leiva are already waiting for their chance in midfield, so it’s likely to be another outing at full-back for the versatile German.
CB) Martin Skrtel
Liverpool are still waiting patiently for the Slovakian to put pen to paper on a new contract. He remains one of the first names on the team-sheet.
CB) Dejan Lovren
Kolo Toure and the returning Sakho will be eyeing Lovren’s spot in the team. However, the Croatian has done well in recent weeks and should retain his spot.
LB) Glen Johnson
The full-back is out of contract at the end of the season, so this could well proved to be his Anfield farewell. Unfortunately, he’s going to be somewhat overshadowed…
