Chelsea are set to miss out on Ukrainian winger Andriy Yarmolenko, as Paris Saint Germain step up their chase for the Dynamo Kiev star. The £19m-rated star is a major target for the French champions, as they chase a replacement for Ezequiel Lavezzi.

But according to the Daily Express, Liverpool could have a major say in the move. The Reds have retained their interest in Lavezzi, whose high wages means that Laurent Blanc’s side will likely have to sell before they can buy.
If Brendan Rodgers’ side do follow-up their interest in the Argentine, then that will in turn leave the door open for PSG to beat Chelsea to the signing of 25-year-old Yarmolenko, with whom they are reportedly already in talks.
A number of Premier League teams have expressed an interest in Yarmolenko in the past, including Liverpool and their Merseyside rivals Everton, whose manager Roberto Mancini recently backed the player to be a success anywhere in the top flight.
He said: “He would be a good signing for the Premier League. Any player who has got good ability in one-to-one situations and brings a goal-scoring threat can find a big role.
“Our league is very physical, very demanding. Yarmolenko controls the moment of the game really well. He’s got 10, 15 goals a season. He has good experience and is a good age.”
