Reds are now keen on landing prime target of their arch rivals.
Arturo Vidal’s transfer saga has taken another dramatic twist as Liverpool have substantiated their interest in the Juventus midfielder by deciding to match Manchester United’s £42.5 million bid for him, according to the Metro.
The Reds’ interest in Vidal was reported recently, but their keenness to pay big for the Chilean could give rise to an intriguing transfer saga for the rest of the summer.
Some reports also claimed that Liverpool could now be favourites to land Vidal, but the transfer may well be hanging in the balance.
Both United and Liverpool seem desperate to land Vidal as a signing of intent for next season, but Juve are not ones to budge easily.
The Italian champions have given no indication of wanting to sell Vidal, but with big offers on the table, a move could happen if the 27-year-old pushes for it.
Liverpool believe that they have the edge in pursuit of Vidal as they can instantly offer him Champions League football this season, but reported interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid could change equations even more dramatically in the weeks to come.
