According to Football Italia, team manager Vincenzo Guerini has suggested that as long as the German international is their player, he will be supported.
However, that wasn’t exactly the kind of response that Viola fans would have been hoping for if the former Bayern Munich ace is to stay at the Artemio Franchi.
It is reported that Gomez will be part of swap deal involving Mario Balotelli, with the Italian striker struggling to find his form at Anfield after joining from Milan last year.
“I think the problem with Gomez is purely psychological, aside from the injuries,” Guerini told Radio Bruno Toscana.
“Last year he also scored some decisive goals, but then lost his way again. As long as he’s our player, he should be supported.”
Gomez has had his troubles with injuries since arriving in Florence, but when fit he has continued to score important goals for the club.
However, after Vincenzo Montella’s departure and Paulo Sousa’s arrival, it remains to be seen how many changes are made as Liverpool look to sign a prolific striker with the funds that they will receive from the expected sale of Raheem Sterling.
