The Spanish goalkeeper is currently on a season-long loan at Napoli.
Liverpool reject Pepe Reina has reportedly agreed to join boyhood club Barcelona at the end of the season to replace Victor Vales.
Valdes has already stated his intention to leave in search of a new challenge when his contract expires next summer and Metro claim Spanish sources have indicated that Reina has already shook hands on a move to the Nou Camp next summer.
The 31-year-old was farmed out on a season-long loan to Serie A side Napoli following the arrival of Simon Mignolet from Sunderland in June and the Spanish goalkeeper’s career on Merseyside looks to be over, despite still having three years to run on his contract.
Reina was a target for Barca earlier in the year, although a move failed to materialise, but it’s understood that he is free to join the Catalan side after Mignolet established himself as Brendan Rodgers’ new number one with three clean sheets in as many Premier League games.
Should reports prove to be accurate it would bring the curtain down on highly-succesful eight years at Liverpool for Reina. Joining from Villarreal in 2005 he went on to make play almost 400 games for the club and winning the FA Cup, League Cup, Super Cup, while also playing in the Champions League defeat to AC Milan in his debut season.
