Reds hope to beat Gunners to promising midfielder.
Liverpool are looking at doing a deal to sign Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph as they see him as the ideal replacement for Steven Gerrard, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Reds could do with new signings in midfield this season, and will need to think about a long-term addition to take Gerrard’s place for the coming years anyway, with the 34-year-old looking past his best and possibly heading for an exit at the end of the season.
Delph’s fine form in the Premier League has seen him emerge as a top target for Liverpool, though Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton have also been mentioned as admirers of his in the past.
The England international could be available on a cut-price deal this January due to being in the final year of his contract at Villa Park.
