Liverpool struggled mightily in a humbling 3-0 loss to West Ham United on Saturday. The Hammers had not won a league game at Anfield since 1963.
This loss was gruesome enough for Liverpool fans to leave early, and the social media reaction was not kind to them.
Defender Dejan Lovren particularly received negative reactions from angry Reds fans due to his poor performance.
He was forced to deactivate his Instagram account after some Liverpool fans went too far on his page by posting death threats.
A Twitter page with the name Anfield Kopites revealed the Croatian international’s decision to delete his Instagram profile.
The account owner also went on to comment on how awful it is for Lovren to have to deal with this extreme form of backlash.
Here is the tweet that shows an image of the Liverpool defender’s account being “not found.”
