Manager watch – Brendan Rodgers
Sitting in arguably the hottest seat among top-10 clubs, the question on most peoples’ minds is: Is Brendan Rodgers really the right man for the job?
Few teams finished the Premier League season with as little pep in their step as the Reds and the club was humiliated in the final weeks of the season. But Rodgers made some bold off-season decisions, selling one superstar and bringing in several more in one final shot at bringing his team back to the top of the Premier League mountain.
Anything less than a top-four finish probably gets Rodgers fired, or results in his resignation, unless of he manages to take Liverpool on an impressive run in the Europa League or the FA Cup, then all bets are off.
Realistic target
Top 4.
Liverpool actually managed to do pretty well for themselves even without a single player scoring more than nine league goals last season. Now they go from having zero scoring threats to having several, and that suggests that they could sneak into the top four.
Predicted finish
5th.
Ultimately the new scoring threats may only help Liverpool swap places with Tottenham Hotspur in the table, with their vulnerability at the back seeing them finish just shy of a top-four finish and Champions League qualification again.
